They Didn't Warn Me

Fear of Intimacy so Deep

In a Men's Workshop on Intimacy

An Unconscious Request From a Woman

I Turned to Her

Where does the man stand

“She said, share you feelings”

And the unsaid…

“as long as they are positive”

I need to learn how to cry alone

“She said, Let me just complain for a while”

And the unsaid…

“you better solve your own problems”

I need to learn to listen to my own voice.

“She said, well, you offered to do it (for me)”

And the unsaid …

“read my mind and know what I need”

I need to develop more inner strength.

“She said, you take things too personal,
your not sensitive enough
and way to needy.”

And the unsaid …

I don’t want to be conscious of my speaking,
but you better be.

With no where to stand,
Don't we both loose?

Tossed Aside

Loved you unconditionally

Showed too much
of my soft side

Wanting more of friendship
then sex

To you I’m no longer
shiny & bright

I stood for what you said
you wanted

For you I was an always

And now,
I am the tossed aside
